中央大学　空手道　和空会について

　中央大学空手道部和空会は、1965年、大学構内で、日々厳しい空手の基本と形の稽古を

行っていた2，3年の有志が集い、多くの大学とも実技組手の交流を行い、修行の場を広げ

たいとの希望をいだき、日本空手協会（松濤館流）の空手を学ぶクラブを設立しました。

　1966年、部長に日本を代表する刑事訴訟法学者の渥美東洋法学部教授、先生に現在ニ

ューヨークで空手の指導をされている日本空手協会の森正隆師範、監督に学生部の吉岡

英隆氏に就任していただき、学友連盟同好会空手道部和空会として正式に承認されまし

た。

　中央大学水道橋舎内の専用の道場（100畳板敷）で、当時は50名前後の部員で空手の

基本、形、組手の稽古にいっそう励みました。そして、関東学生リーグ戦、日本空手協

会空手道選手権大会などにも出場し、多様な空手修行を行ってまいりました。

しかし、大学の御茶ノ水から八王子への移転、学生気質の変化などで部員が徐々に減

少し、2001年卒女子2名を最後に休部になりました。

　現在は、卒業生180名からなるOB会が主体となって、合同稽古、総会を行い交流をはかりつつ、

OB連合会をはじめ日本空手協会のイベントに参加し、中央大学に日本空手協会の

空手道クラブを立ち上げるべく活動を行っております。

About the Wakukai of Chuo University Karate Club

Wakukai was founded in 1965 by a group of students in sophomore and senior year  who were eager to participate in extramural competition.  Following year the official were installed: distinguished criminologist Professor Toyo Atsumi as the Director,  Master Masataka Mori of Japan Karate Association who is currently teaching Karate in New York as the Technical advisor and Hidetaka Yoshioka as the head coach.  Subsequently, Wakukai was formally approved by  the administrative office of Chuo University as suctioned karate club.

The Karate Dojo (100 tatami mat) located Chuo University Suidobasi Campus  became the home of the Wakukai.  The wakukai actively participated in Kanto League and the competition sponsored by Japan Karate Association.  The number of member grew to 60 at its peak.  However the popularity of Karate declined over the recent years.  Furthermore,  the relocation of Chuo University from Ochyanomizu to Hachioji campus had impacted the membership.   Wakukai finally closed its door  in 2001.

Objective of Wakukai OB is to reestablish the Wakukai on campus and promote the sprit of Karate and fine tradition of Wakukai.
